City of Scottsdale Prevails in Goldwater Institute Lawsuit Over Upcoming Sales Tax Measure
July 19, 2024 – The City of Scottsdale has won the lawsuit filed by the Goldwater Institute. The case, heard before the Superior Court on an expedited basis on Thursday, July 18, saw a decision initially promised by the judge for July 19. Due to a widespread system outage affecting the courts, the decision was delayed to Monday, July 22. However, at 5:31 PM on Friday, July 19, the judge announced that the City of Scottsdale prevails with the current ballot text.
City Votes On Pay Increases
On June 18, the Scottsdale City Council reviewed charter officer performance and voted on their contracts. The City Manager’s salary will increase from $375,000 to $390,000, and the City Treasurer’s salary will rise by $22,000 to $264,000, both by a 5-2 vote.

If not, ADUs and middle housing could extend to multi-family residential lots. The city is working to mitigate these effects and will keep the community updated.
